iMedia Client Featured in Home News Tribune

iMedia Public Relations was retained by Dr. Patricia Fuzzi to handle pr surrounding the opening of her new office for Professional Behavioral Health Center of New Jersey, P.A. Her new office features new new technologies to treat mental health: Neurostar Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS Therapy) to treat depression and Neurofeedback, which measures and represents the ebb and flow of brain waves and helps patients learn to control the waves.

Following is an excerpt from an article iMedia placed in the Home News Tribune today on the use of this technology in her new practice.

OLD BRIDGE — Deborah Bryant sits in what appears to be a dentist’s chair as a high-tech system sends magnetic pulses to a targeted area of her brain as part of her treatment for depression.

She feels the pulses as they occur, and the treatment seems to be working, she said.
Within the first two weeks of the treatment — called transcranial magnetic stimulation, or TMS — she felt “like a film was taken off my eyes,” said Bryant, a Jackson resident, who has been on medications for depression and anxiety for more than two decades.
Before starting TMS, her depression was so severe she was thinking of going on permanent disability. But since starting the treatment about three weeks ago, she has been feeling better.

“Now, it’s like, what do I want to be when I grow up?” she said.

“I saw technology as the new edge in treatment,” said Dr. Patricia Francesca Fuzzi, a Morganville resident and clinical psychologist who has been treating patients at her center’s Manalapan office since 2003. The Old Bridge address also includes space for her planned daycare, EduCare Professional Child Care Center LLC, due to open this fall, she said.

The NeuroStar system is a product of Malvern, Pa.-based Neuronetics. It was cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 2008 as a way of treating depression if a first course of antidepressants doesn’t work. It is being used at more than 300 treatment centers around the country, a company representative said. The NeuroStar website lists nine other providers in New Jersey, including Morristown Memorial Hospital.
